General Public´s Knowledge of Dementia, Its Controversial Point, and The Countermeasure toward Dementia

Abstract

|
This study was designed. to get a general public´s knowledge about dementia. There were many people of various occupations participated in this survey to especially examine which occupation so interested in dementia classified into senile dementia and-cerebral vascular dementia.
According to this study, people working in hospital and other medical institutions had a more correct knowledge about dementia than any other people. And 46% of people partic-ipated in this survey had an incorrect knowledge regarding dementia as a simple amnesia. But, fortunately, most of them revealed a positive thinking about a medical cure on demen-tia patients, and also the serious problem of dementia would be acceptable to them.
There were still several problems in fully understanding dementia and a lot of improve-ment remained on it. So this study suggests to improve a lack of understanding of dementia and to change the attitude on it.
